The new product of the domestic automobile industry, Lada XRay, has been rolling off the concern’s assembly line for almost a year now and is being tested by car enthusiasts in real conditions on Russian roads.
Those who are just planning to purchase a car and choose a model for themselves, at the first stages of selection are interested in parameters that are known without testing, in particular, dimensions and other geometric characteristics, since knowledge of these parameters allows one to assess how well X Rey’s overall dimensions correspond to the class machine and engine power.
Let us consider in detail the dimensions of the Lada X Rey, dividing them into groups according to characterized parameters.
Dimensions
Lada XRay is created on the Renault Sandero Stepway platform, but with a slightly larger base.

The front overhang of the Lada XRay is 834 mm, the rear overhang is 738 mm. These values correspond to:
- approach angle – 21 degrees;
- departure angle – 34 degrees.
The parameters and dimensions of the X-Ray are not outstanding for a crossover, but for the declared class of this Lada model they are acceptable and quite comfortable.
You should pay attention to the fact that the width along the arches of the rear wheels of the Stepway is smaller, and wider along the mirrors when unfolded. This is explained by the large size of the Renault mirrors, while the Lada XRay mirrors are disproportionately small in relation to the dimensions of the body, as a result of which they do not provide the best visibility.
The height of the Lada XRay is quite significant - the car without roof rails is only 2 cm lower than the Renault Sandero Stepway with roof rails, but this is compensated by the larger base and width of the X Ray.
The track width of the Lada X Ray is (R-16 wheels):
- front wheels: along the axles – 1482 mm;
- overall – 1983 mm.
- along the axes – 1513 mm;
The values of these parameters, despite the ground clearance of 195 mm, ensure good stability of the car against rollover when cornering.

At the moment, two configurations of the Lada X Ray are available to consumers – Optima and Top:
Optima
The basic configuration already looks quite rich for a domestic car:

This package adds:

- multimedia complex;
- navigation;
- electric drive and heated external mirrors.
The cost starts from 668,000 rubles. You can purchase an additional Prestige package, which includes:
- heated front glass;
- light sensor;
- Rain sensor;
- air conditioning system;
- rear view camera;
- more tinted windows.
The cost of the top-end configuration with this package is no less than 698,000 rubles.
Trunk dimensions
The standard luggage compartment of the Lada X Ray, at first glance, is too small for a crossover - this impression is supported by the size of the luggage opening, which is also narrowed in the upper half:
- opening height –80.0 cm;
- opening width – 99.0 cm.
However, the trunk volume in the standard configuration is 361 liters, and the internal dimensions are:
- length – 79.0 cm;
- width – 90.0 cm;
- height (up to removable shelf) – 40.0 cm.
Folding the rear seat backs allows you to increase the volume of the luggage compartment to 1200 liters, and the length to 1700 mm. The diagonal length of the trunk will be 1850 mm. An additional folded front passenger seat will increase the volume of the luggage compartment to 1300 liters, and the large diagonal to 2500 mm.
The loading height of the Lada XRay is 730 mm - a considerable amount, but the trunk lid in the open position is at a height of 181 cm, which allows you to safely walk under it during loading.
Trunk of Lada X Rey: volume, features, modification options
The trunk is an important element that tips the scales in one direction or another when deciding to buy a car. Especially a family vehicle, when it is necessary to regularly transport items such as a baby stroller or bicycle, or a large supply of groceries for the dacha. Trunk characteristics
The new AvtoVAZ model Lada X Ray compares favorably with other cars of this manufacturer not only in appearance, but also in its impressive size:

With such dimensions, the designers were able to create a large, functional trunk without much difficulty:

- length 790 mm,
- 900 mm wide
- 400 mm high to the luggage rack.
An important parameter is the opening of the lid, which determines the dimensions of the transported goods. In Lada X Rey it is quite impressive: it is 80 cm high and 90 cm wide.
The X-Ray trunk lid can be easily opened using an electric drive; you just need to press the lock button. The tower is 181.5 cm above the ground, which allows most people to easily walk under it without fear of being hit. The absence of a rear trunk wall makes loading and unloading the car very convenient.
If you need to transport cargo up to 170 centimeters in length, you can easily increase the capacity of the luggage compartment by folding the rear seat backs, and its useful volume will increase to 1,207 liters. With the rear seats folded down, the trunk can easily be used to sleep two people of average height, who will be quite comfortable. If you need to transport a large amount of cargo, you can fold the right front seat, which increases the useful volume to 1,300 liters.
For ease of use of the trunk space, a raised floor is provided. If necessary, it can be easily removed, and the car owner has access to the lower floor covering and spare tire. Eye bolts are installed at the corners of the raised floor, serving as fastening elements for rubber halyards, nets and other systems designed to secure cargo.
Interior dimensions
The interior of the Lada X Ray, like the trunk, is small for a crossover, but this is due to the size of the body. The maximum height of the cabin (from floor to ceiling in the middle part) is 1220 mm, its width at shoulder level is the same along the entire length - 1330 mm.
The front seat cushions are located at a height of 180 mm from the floor, the rear sofa – 260 mm. The distance between the backs of the front and rear seats is from 600 to 815 mm.
The front seats have enough room for a comfortable posture, but when moving them back, second-row passengers are forced to find an acceptable position for their legs.
All doors open wide enough, and the rear door openings are wide enough for loading onto the sofa and transporting large cargo.
The level of the “window sills” of the side windows of the Lada X Ray is too high, which visually adds strength and consistency to the body, but reduces side visibility.
The top-end XRay configuration has a multimedia system in the cabin with a 7-inch diagonal color display, which, given its diagonal size, is not loaded enough with information and contains, apart from the fuel level, only one of the displayed parameters.
Renault Sandero
The five-door hatchback Renault Sandero is equipped with 1.2 and 1.6 liter petrol engines.
The gearbox is manual only. Renault Sandero 1.2
The initial version of the car with a 1.2-liter engine producing 75 hp. With. costs 399,000 rubles, the “empty” basic Access package has only an airbag and power steering. The Confort version for 545,990 rubles is supplemented with a second airbag, ABS, front electric windows, central locking, cruise control and fog lights; air conditioning (25 thousand rubles), an audio system (9 thousand rubles), a package with electric mirrors and heated front seats are offered as options (11 thousand rubles).
Renault Sandero 1.6 8V
A car equipped with a 1.6-liter eight-valve engine producing 82 hp. With. is offered in Access for 494,990 rubles, Confort for 551,990 rubles and Privilege for 597,990 rubles. The latter is complemented by side airbags, climate control, rear electric windows, electric mirrors, leather steering wheel, heated front seats, and for an additional fee you can order a stabilization system, navigation, parking sensors and other options.
Also available for the hatchback is a five-speed robotic gearbox for 20 thousand rubles (except for the Access package).
Renault Sandero 1.6 16V
Prices for Renault Sandero with a 1.6 sixteen-valve engine (102 hp) start at 573,990 rubles for a car in the Confort configuration. The Privilege car will cost buyers 619,990 rubles. In any of the trim levels, you can order a four-speed automatic transmission for an additional 45 thousand rubles.
Lada XRay wheel sizes
The standard tire sizes are 195/65 R15 or 205/55 R16, indicated in the technical specifications of the hatchback, and R is not the radius, but the radial design of the tire. All configurations of the Lada X-Ray, except for the most budget-friendly Optima, are equipped with 5-spoke alloy wheels that harmonize well with the exterior of the car.
According to advanced X-Ray owners, tires of the following sizes can also be painlessly installed on the car: 185/55 R17, 195/50 R17, 205/50 R17, 225/45 R17, as well as 175/50 R18, 195/45 R18 , 215/40 R18, 225/40 R18 and even 175/45 R19, 185/40 R19, 195/40 R19.
All electronics that provide ABS are configured for factory wheel sizes, so for safety reasons, after installing wheels of other sizes, it is necessary to flash the ABS/ESP control unit to a new tire size, and this operation is performed only at authorized dealers.
Trunk LADA XRay
Its volume is 361 liters. Not much, but with the rear seat folded down it increases to 1,207 liters. If, in addition, you expand the front passenger seat, you can achieve a volume of 1,514 liters, and you can also freely place long items such as skis, profiles, etc. inside. This is facilitated by the split back of the rear sofa, which folds out in a 60x40 proportion.
With such a trunk and sofa, transporting long items is as easy as shelling pears!
However, volume is not everything. Equally important is the ease of use of the available space. And here AvtoVAZ engineers rose to the occasion! The interior of the luggage compartment has a perfectly flat floor, and the wheel arches do not protrude inward. This means that the entire volume will be used for its intended purpose and there will be no empty corners left inside. The top is limited by a plastic shelf, but if necessary, it can be dismantled and belongings can be placed under the glass itself, although in this case you need to be careful not to break it.
The double floor in the trunk of the Lada X-Ray is a useful option, but in terms of ease of use it is by no means outstanding.
The machine has a double floor function, and its upper part is equipped with special clamps, through which you can, using belts, securely secure the load so that it does not look for a fifth corner on the way.
Hooks and ties allow you to securely secure cargo to the floor or walls of the Lada X-Ray trunk.
The only pity is that when the rear sofa is folded, a flat loading area does not form inside the car - the backrest folds at a slight angle. So you will either have to put up with this or remove the rear sofa cushion from the car, which is not always convenient or acceptable.
Car dimensions
The new Lada X-RAY boasts a width of as much as 175.4 cm, a height of 157 cm, and a length of 416.4 cm. These dimensions gave engineers the opportunity to work a little with the new size of the luggage compartment. It can now hold about 376 liters, and if the rear seatbacks are folded down, the compartment can increase to a whopping 1,380 liters.
To some this may not seem like such a large capacity, but if you pay attention to the dimensions of the car, then all doubts immediately disappear.
Options for modifying the luggage compartment of a car
The trunk of the Lada X Rey, despite its impressive size, can be significantly improved by installing additional accessories, such as organizers, which can be purchased at spare parts stores. The most popular organizer for X Rey is the one that is installed under the trunk shelf. It serves to store things and prevent them from randomly rolling while the car is moving. The organizer itself does not take up space, allowing you to easily reach your packed items. It is easy to install and remove, as it has a simple plastic design.
