These are the easiest panels to install. But you can use this part from other foreign cars. Just be sure to take into account the compliance of the VAZ 2107 devices with the chosen foreign car. A few weeks ago I started covering a torpedo with vinyl leather. To be honest, after reading reviews on the Internet, I thought it would be easier. Today is the third day of work directly covering the torpedo. It turns out very bad, but for now it’s tolerable. I even doubt whether the game was worth the candle. Well, oh well, there’s simply no turning back now. Today I realized one simple truth: this work is second in complexity only to complete soundproofing of the car. Sound insulation is more difficult in the sense that there is several times more work, in much worse conditions and very exhausting. The only difficulties here are the complexity of the shape of the seven-dimensional panel, as well as the very large limitations of vinyl leather.

All the work was started due to the fact that since the purchase of the car there were a lot of jambs on the dashboard, the main one of which was a crack on the top, which I once covered with a silicone mat for the phone. In principle, today I no longer consider such a decision to be so unfortunate. In general, it would be better not to touch her. The first thing I did before I started covering the dashboard was to seal up the crack on the dashboard and the hole on the glove compartment lid with a lock. There will be no more lock on it. Later I will write why and how to continue living.

After all this work, it was necessary to prepare the torpedo for pasting. The preparation was carried out in several stages: 1. Cleaning the torpedo from dust and dirt, completely removing all unnecessary parts from the torpedo. 2. Sanding the torpedo. 3. Solvent treatment (degreasing). Next came the gluing process itself. If you want to do something like this, then I’ll tell you right away that this is a very complex and tedious process. The durability of the coating depends on what glue you use. I used Quintol glue in tubes. To date, more than 8 tubes of Quintol Lux glue have already been used to paste the torpedo. But to be honest, I doubt that the torpedo won’t start bubbling from the sun. Let's wait and see... Work process:

The photo shows several jambs. I've already come to terms with some of the shortcomings. In some places I even had to cut out the vinyl, for example, in the place where there used to be a daily mileage reset cable (it no longer exists, since I have a Volga panel). I really don’t like how it’s turning out, but God willing, I will continue in the same spirit, the main thing is that it doesn’t get worse, because if it’s worse, you can throw out a torpedo. For now it seems to be tolerable.

Today I took and finished covering the torpedo with vinyl leather. Finally. It took about 10 tubes of Quintol-Lux glue and about 4 tubes of Quintol. They differ in setting time and color. "Quintol" catches on very quickly, the wait is only 30 seconds. It is suitable for taping seams or bonding vinyl where needed. And for basic work, I personally used Quintol-Lux, it takes a long time to set, you need to apply 2 layers and wait 15 minutes. It is great for working with a hair dryer; unlike Quintol, it bubbles stupidly or dries quickly, which does not allow the vinyl to be glued properly. The end result of my work:

In principle it looks good. I would say “a solid 4”. The marks from the bursting area are no longer visible, which undoubtedly makes me happy. The main thing is that the upper part of the torpedo turned out almost perfect.

There were some problems too. The main jamb was on the left side, there is a transition from the hill to the air duct, this is a very difficult place, I, being greedy, wanted to tighten everything in one piece, in the end I still had to cut, and cut in many places. Don't skimp on the seams if you take on this type of work. It’s easier to treat the seams than to try unsuccessfully to smooth out a bunch of wrinkles later.

But I won’t redo it, too much effort went into it. By the way, the first seam also turned out extremely poorly, there was no normal knife in the garage, so I cut it off haphazardly, and in the end we have something like this:

Regular quintol, by the way, contrasts very well with the color of the torpedo and is almost invisible, this allows you to cover up the seams with it. There is also a small jamb on the right side of the main console, but here I already applied experience and just made a few joints. It turned out better than the left side. At least without stupid wrinkles.

But the far right seam turned out quite well, I really liked it.

In general, I am very, very pleased with the work done. Everything was not in vain, the torpedo looks great, better than it was. There are some mistakes, but this is forgivable, because I am doing this work for the first time.
