The new product has a length of 4260 mm, a width of 1700 mm and a height of 1500 mm, with a wheelbase of 2476 mm. The front track is slightly wider - 1430 mm, the rear - 1414 mm. Granta's curb weight is 1115 kg, total weight is 1560 kg.
The car is sure to appeal to practical people, because the luggage compartment volume is 520 liters, despite the fact that the car itself is quite compact. The fuel tank capacity is 50 liters, and the permissible weight of the towed trailer is 450 kg if the trailer is without brakes and 900 kg if it has brakes.
The Granta is equipped with the entire modern line of engines from AvtoVAZ. Power units ranging from 80 hp to 106 hp are available to buyers. The engine capacity in all cases is 1.6 liters.

An irreplaceable advantage of the cabin is the ability of the seats to be amenable to many adjustments. The interior space is thought out with sufficient meticulousness, thanks to which long trips turn into fun and comfortable events.
If we set the value of the height from the junction of the seat cushion with the backrest to the nearest dimension, then it will be 910 millimeters for the front passengers, and passengers in the stern will have 80 millimeters more at their disposal, that is, 990 mm. The width of the seats is respectively 490 mm and 510 mm. The free legroom behind seated riders can reach a maximum of 335 mm. The height of the seats relative to the bottom for the front row is 285 mm, and for the second row – 340 mm. This parameter may vary due to the ability of the seats to be adjusted (front).
For those who are interested in the distance between the pedal assembly and the front end of the driver's seat, it can also be adjusted, thanks to regulation, from 335 mm to 560 mm.
Some future owners of practical LADA Granta will probably be interested in the steering dimensions. The steering wheel diameter is 375 mm. The remaining indicators are not particularly important here and note that they are not capable of having the slightest negative impact on ride comfort.
Grant dynamics characteristics
The most powerful Grant accelerates to “hundreds” in 11 seconds, and its top speed is 177 km/h. There is also the Lada Granat Sport, which has better dynamic characteristics, but in this material we will compare only production cars that are assembled at AvtoVAZ.
In the combined driving cycle, LADA Granta consumes from 6.7 to 7.6 liters of 95 gasoline.

Features and disadvantages of the luggage compartment
It is worth mentioning the possibility of folding the rear row of seats. Maximum capacity can only be achieved by removing the passenger row head restraints. In addition, the front seats will have to be moved as far as possible towards the dashboard. Additionally, it is worth protecting the standard coating with a rubber mat so that it does not become unusable during the first months of using the car.
Installing a subwoofer in the trunk of a Granta is problematic. This element of the audio system takes up a lot of space, so it will no longer be possible to transport bulky cargo. In addition, the subwoofer is at risk of damage.
Other features of Lada Granta luggage racks:

- It will not be possible to open the fifth door automatically; you will have to do it manually.
- The luggage compartment lid handle is uncomfortable and resembles a small recess in shape.

The liftback trunk lid is noticeably heavier than that of the hatchback. Sometimes the lock does not work properly: when opening it from the interior, the fifth door does not close on the first try. The lid is not lined with sound insulation, which can create additional noise in the cabin.

The most popular among buyers is the Lada Granta liftback, released for free sale in 2014 and becoming a new modernized version of the sedan from AvtoVAZ. In many characteristics, these two cars are similar. However, judging by the first impression, the liftback looks much brighter and more expensive than the sedan with its clearly budget trim. Manufacturers have successfully given a second life to the sedan, using new modern trim along with sporty elements. At the same time, the overall dimensions of the car also received significant changes.
First of all, attention is drawn to the new bumper configuration and the fact that the liftback can be driven with any type of transmission. The air intake became wider and longer, and the side edges of the fairing were improved using plastic inserts, in the center of which fog lights were placed. The front optics themselves are now made more elegant and sophisticated, which, in turn, adds progressiveness to the car. Since we started with QOL, let’s continue this topic. For the frame of Ladovsky models without glued glass, the quality of life is 14 thousand N*m/degree, which is a very good mark. And with glass this figure is even higher.
The testing of the Lada body in the rear turned out to be especially good. Thus, in the rear door opening, after a tough diagonal pressure test, the changes were recorded as only 1.5 mm, whereas on most foreign cars the same figure was 5-6 mm.
The body design of the Lada Largus and other similar models fundamentally complies with current European standards in terms of protecting passengers and the driver. The front subframe on Ladovsky models is one of the most important body elements responsible for this indicator. It is even considered an auxiliary spar, significantly increasing the strength of the body, as well as absorbing impact force.
The high quality of life of the Ladovsky body also has a beneficial effect on obtaining high-quality sound comfort in a car showroom. The frame does not twist over bumps and bumps, no deformations or anomalies occur between the interior and body elements, which ultimately has a positive effect on the absence of squeaks.
Note. Of course, in addition to the quality of life indicator, the quality of interior elements also affects the high level of sound comfort. Lada Granta (VAZ-2190) - video test drive
The working title of Granta at the development stage was Low cost. We saved on everything. The car was developed on the Lada Kalina platform, which made it possible to make maximum use of the equipment purchased for the production of the latter (Kalina sales have never reached the planned level, so it is still far from exhausting its resource), and to minimize the time of development work. Hence the short development period - 22 months. For comparison, we note that investment in development averages about 30% of the price of the car, and Granta was created more than two times faster than Kalina.
The second most important source of savings is manufacturability. For example, the front bumper of Granta has three times fewer parts than the same unit of Kalina. The Granta doors have five times fewer decorative parts than the Kalina, and the instrument panel has about 1.5 times less decorative parts. Thus, the labor intensity of assembly has been reduced. Renault's experience in creating a model for developing countries - the Renault Logan - is clearly visible here. At one time, it was Logan that was the first foreign car to noticeably supplant VAZ in Russia.
Finally, foreigners taught VAZ to make “empty” cars, as a common expression among car enthusiasts goes. This means that the car may be richly equipped, but the base version (the one offered at the promotional price) is essentially a combination of engine, body and chassis - and nothing more. True, even with this, Granta is much more comfortable than the classics. Fewer trim parts mean less noise. Due to poor fit of parts and rattling, Volga cars received the collective nickname “basins”, which, quite possibly, will die out with the advent of Granta. The car is equipped with new seats imported from Slovenia, has a larger and more comfortable trunk and an ergonomic interior.
As for safety, according to VAZ, the Lada Granta fits into Russian standards (for an oblique frontal collision at a speed of 56 km/h) even without airbags. Compared to Kalina, the body is 14% stiffer. In addition, Granta is equipped with Isofix rear seat belts, allowing you to attach a child seat. One of the innovations used on the Lada Granta played a cruel joke on the creators - the electronic gas pedal. When Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin tested the pre-production car in 2011, the car only started... on the fifth try. Evil tongues immediately attributed this to the “traditional quality” of Togliatti, but in reality it turned out that the Prime Minister was simply not instructed how to start the car correctly. The name Granta was chosen through an open competition, and the winner received a Lada Kalina as a prize.

In the mid-2000s. The joint concern Renault-Nissan bought a large stake in AvtoVAZ and began to carry out similar reforms at the Russian plant. The result of this work was the Lada Granta (factory name - VAZ-2190). When the car was being developed, AvtoVAZ promised that the model would cost from 220 thousand rubles, and almost did not deceive: when the collection of orders began, the price of the basic configuration was 229 thousand rubles, which was only 10% higher than the cost of the classic VAZ-2107.
