The new product of the domestic automobile industry, Lada XRay, has been rolling off the concern’s assembly line for almost a year now and is being tested by car enthusiasts in real conditions on Russian roads.

You should pay attention to the fact that the width along the arches of the rear wheels of the Stepway is smaller, and wider along the mirrors when unfolded. This is explained by the large size of the Renault mirrors, while the Lada XRay mirrors are disproportionately small in relation to the dimensions of the body, as a result of which they do not provide the best visibility.
The height of the Lada XRay is quite significant - the car without roof rails is only 2 cm lower than the Renault Sandero Stepway with roof rails, but this is compensated by the larger base and width of the X Ray.
The track width of the Lada X Ray is (R-16 wheels):

- overall – 1983 mm.
- along the axes – 1513 mm;
The values of these parameters, despite the ground clearance of 195 mm, ensure good stability of the car against rollover when cornering.

- All models are equipped with gasoline engines of varying power.
- At the exit, the car, on average, gets 10.8 to a hundred.

In repairs, technical aspects do not cause difficulties, since everything is created as simply as possible, using time-tested technologies.
Trunk dimensions
The standard luggage compartment of the Lada X Ray, at first glance, is too small for a crossover - this impression is supported by the size of the luggage opening, which is also narrowed in the upper half:
- opening height –80.0 cm;
- opening width – 99.0 cm.
However, the trunk volume in the standard configuration is 361 liters, and the internal dimensions are:
- length – 79.0 cm;
- width – 90.0 cm;
- height (up to removable shelf) – 40.0 cm.
Folding the rear seat backs allows you to increase the volume of the luggage compartment to 1200 liters, and the length to 1700 mm. The diagonal length of the trunk will be 1850 mm. An additional folded front passenger seat will increase the volume of the luggage compartment to 1300 liters, and the large diagonal to 2500 mm.
The loading height of the Lada XRay is 730 mm - a considerable amount, but the trunk lid in the open position is at a height of 181 cm, which allows you to safely walk under it during loading.

The interior design turned out to be pleasant both in appearance and to the touch. There is a sense of simplicity and orderliness in the details. The steering wheel is finished with high-quality materials and has few buttons, made in the shape of a trident. We didn't find anything unnecessary on the front panel.

However, you can see from the photo how few buttons there are on it. It is worth noting that this does not mean that the car is not very optional, it is simply controlled using a touchscreen that can be easily hidden/removed from the casing. The seats are finished in a combination of different materials. Between the driver and the passenger next to him there is a spacious glove compartment. Integrated ventilation/heating function. Interior dimensions
The interior of the Lada X Ray, like the trunk, is small for a crossover, but this is due to the size of the body. The maximum height of the cabin (from floor to ceiling in the middle part) is 1220 mm, its width at shoulder level is the same along the entire length - 1330 mm.
The front seat cushions are located at a height of 180 mm from the floor, the rear sofa – 260 mm. The distance between the backs of the front and rear seats is from 600 to 815 mm.
The front seats have enough room for a comfortable posture, but when moving them back, second-row passengers are forced to find an acceptable position for their legs.
All doors open wide enough, and the rear door openings are wide enough for loading onto the sofa and transporting large cargo.
The level of the “window sills” of the side windows of the Lada X Ray is too high, which visually adds strength and consistency to the body, but reduces side visibility.
The top-end XRay configuration has a multimedia system in the cabin with a 7-inch diagonal color display, which, given its diagonal size, is not loaded enough with information and contains, apart from the fuel level, only one of the displayed parameters.

At the moment, two configurations of the Lada X Ray are available to consumers – Optima and Top:

The basic configuration already looks quite rich for a domestic car:

Lada XRay wheel sizes
The standard tire sizes are 195/65 R15 or 205/55 R16, indicated in the technical specifications of the hatchback, and R is not the radius, but the radial design of the tire. All configurations of the Lada X-Ray, except for the most budget-friendly Optima, are equipped with 5-spoke alloy wheels that harmonize well with the exterior of the car.
According to advanced X-Ray owners, tires of the following sizes can also be painlessly installed on the car: 185/55 R17, 195/50 R17, 205/50 R17, 225/45 R17, as well as 175/50 R18, 195/45 R18 , 215/40 R18, 225/40 R18 and even 175/45 R19, 185/40 R19, 195/40 R19.
All electronics that provide ABS are configured for factory wheel sizes, so for safety reasons, after installing wheels of other sizes, it is necessary to flash the ABS/ESP control unit to a new tire size, and this operation is performed only at authorized dealers.
Advantages and disadvantages
The advantages of the car include the following performance characteristics:

- powerful engine;
- modern stylish look;
- equipped with modern safety and driver assistance systems;
- acceptable price.
All this makes the car popular and in demand. It’s too early to talk about shortcomings; we need to wait for feedback from the owners. However, something can be noted now. The technical characteristics of the car have already brought it so close to SUVs that all that is missing from this segment is all-wheel drive.
Lada Ride Select
Of course, the “off-road” version of Xray, like Vesta, does not have all-wheel drive. And it is unlikely to happen. But this modification still has some alternative. This is the Lada Ride Select system, which allows you to select one of five driving modes. It is also possible to disable the traction control system. There is also a sport mode, which sharpens the response to pressing the accelerator, and a “snow/mud and sand” mode, which not only changes the accelerator settings, but also allows a greater degree of slipping. We were able to fully test the latter mode in the Karakum sands. Of course, it will not replace all-wheel drive, but it will allow the car to move several tens of meters further than a regular XRAY.
Sound insulation of the roof (ceiling) Lada X-Ray
The ceiling lining is very fragile and requires special care when dismantling. We remove it to get to the metal parts. Here you can see several pieces of vibration isolation that was installed at the factory. It is difficult to say that the material is of poor quality - it is very hard, which helps dampen strong vibrations. We decided to remove it to gain more opportunities to use our own materials.
Initially, we dampen the ceiling with high-quality vibration insulation; it is very light and has excellent adhesive parameters. Next comes a layer of Felton 10mm high-density felt, which does an excellent job of absorbing noise.
As soon as the work is completed, we assemble the casing; everything is done extremely carefully and efficiently.
Vesta raised floor in the trunk
The luggage compartment of the Lada Vesta in the SV Cross configuration has a raised floor (removable floor). It consists of two panels that are interchangeable with each other. If you fold down the rear seats and create a flat floor, you can use raised floor panels on the rear and front sides.
Under the raised floor there are two interchangeable organizers, as shown in the picture. The volume of the luggage compartment can be increased to transport large cargo. To do this, the organizer frames are installed on top of the raised floor.
Raised floor panels cannot be used without the support of the organizer, otherwise they may be damaged.
If the panel is installed at an angle, it is prohibited to drive the vehicle. This may damage the panel. When installing or removing the removable trunk floor, be careful not to injure yourself.
Self-production
After buying a car, you want everything in it to be convenient and comfortable. But this car only has a double floor in the luggage compartment in the Luxury version. Making a raised floor with your own hands is not so difficult - be patient, materials and tools. After this, the trunk of your Lada Vesta will be fully equipped.
It can also be ordered as an additional option at the dealership. But it will cost 12-15 thousand rubles. Therefore, it is more rational to do everything yourself.
You will need plywood 10 mm thick, a board 6 m long, 8 cm wide and 20 mm thick. Almost the entire length of the board is used for the entire frame. You also need to buy carpet from a fabric store - a material for interior trim of the body. To do this, you need a piece 1.5 m wide and 2 m long. In addition, you will need staples for a stapler measuring 8 mm. The money spent on materials costs approximately 1,500 rubles.
The most important thing is to do everything according to size:
- First, make 2 frame frames 900x440 mm from a prepared board 80 mm wide. Fasten the parts with self-tapping screws.
- Cut out the false floor itself from plywood according to the drawing, also 2 pieces.
After this, all that remains is to try everything on in place, then carefully cover it with carpet. You can use different glue, for example, “Moment” or No. 88. You should end up with something similar to what is shown in the photo below. The first photo shows frames covered with carpet. You can make the number of partitions at your discretion, depending on what you will put in these compartments.
And here you see two parts of the raised floor itself, also covered with black carpet. You can also make holes in them at your discretion: round, oval, rectangular. They serve for ease of grip by hand. It is better to cover the holes with suitable furniture fittings so that their edges are closed.
