How can I install

There are 2 ways to install fog lights on a Lada Kalina car:

1. Without removing the front bumper;
2. With bumper removed.

Advice! If you do not have sufficient skills in working with plastic parts, then it is better to completely remove the bumper. In this way you will protect it from breaking off latches and fasteners due to negligence.

Kalina foglights, which ones are better?

Foglights for Kalina are sold in different ways, and they differ not only in manufacturer, but in workmanship, as well as in equipment. For example:

• Bosch PTF with flat glass, sold only in pairs, high quality workmanship.
• PTF Kirzhach already has convex glass, like a lens. You can buy the headlight separately, rather than the whole kit.
• PTF Luch is an analogue of Bosch, only they do not have a misting valve.
• PTF ProSport - Chinese fog lights, quality at the same level.

Installation of PTF

If you bought fully equipped headlights, then integrating them into the front bumper will not be particularly difficult.

You will only need:

1. Install PTF in regular places;
2. Secure them with self-tapping screws;
3. Install incandescent lamps in the headlights;
4. Connect the plug and lead the wires into the engine compartment.

Advice! For additional glass protection, order the production of headlight stickers. This transparent film can protect fog lights from stones and plant branches.

The fog lamp is removed in case of body work or in case of replacement. The Lada Kalina car uses fog lights manufactured by Bosh (Ryazan) and the AUTO Light LLC plant (Kirzhach), these are the manufacturers authorized by AvtoVAZ.

1. Disconnect the battery.

4. Remove the three screws and remove the fog light from the vehicle.

Installation of electrical components

More technically complex is the operation of installing and integrating electrical components into standard wiring.

To successfully complete the work, the owner must solve the following tasks:

1. Correctly connect the PTF to the fuse block;
2. Install a button for activating fog lights in the car interior.

If you use the wiring and the attached electrical diagram from the PTF kit, the connection will be reduced to:

1. Installing a fuse in the block;
2. A relay responsible for the operation of the power button is also installed there;
3. Connecting the fog lights themselves and the standard electrical wiring into a single electrical network;
4. Outputting control of their work to a button.

Installing the PTF button

The button for turning on Kalina's fog lights can be installed at the request of the car owner:

1. On the tunnel between the seats;

3. In the external lighting control unit.

The light control module (LCM) of the Lada Kalina car has a fog lamp button, which is responsible for the operation of the rear lights. The fuse box is also hidden behind it.

Less difficult to install would be options with connecting and outputting a button near the cigarette lighter on the tunnel, or with installing a button in a socket on the instrument panel provided for turning on the air conditioner (in versions without it).

Do-it-yourself PTF installation

To work you will need:

1. The key is "8".
2. Screwdriver.

It is recommended to carry out work on a removed bumper. It will be more convenient this way. You can also mount the headlights directly on the car. After installation, be sure to check the quality of work and adjust the headlights so as not to blind oncoming drivers.

1. The steering wheel needs to be turned all the way.
2. Remove the dirt protection in the wheel arch.

3. Unclip the latches on the plugs that are in place of the fog lights and pull them out.
4. The headlight is attached to the bumper from the inside with three screws.

Initially, the wires must be connected to the headlights themselves. The “mass” is also screwed to the car body. “Plus” is connected to the battery according to the diagram. The wires are pulled through the engine compartment to the passenger compartment.

This must be done along the left wing, where the standard fastenings for the wires are located. Before doing this, you need to remove the fender liner to make work easier.

1. Remove the ashtray by unscrewing the mounting bolts (4 pcs).
2. Next, you need to pull out the panel on which the button covers are located through the resulting opening.

3. Remove temperature controls.
4. Instead of the air conditioner on/off button (or plug), there is a button to control the headlights. The short wires must be connected to those of the same color that go to the rear glass heating. Long wires are connected to the mounting block. You should try to push the mounting block itself into the cabin as far as possible.

5. Fuses and relays are connected according to the diagram.

   

   Connection to the LCM (light control module). Now the PTF can be turned on only when the dimensions are on, and when the ignition is turned off, the PTF will go out automatically, everything is according to the “law”

6. After this, all connections must be insulated.

What is needed for installation and connection

Standard PTFs are included in some Kalina configurations; they are installed on the lower bumper. The lighting quality of standard optics is not always optimal - many mechanics recommend purchasing a higher-quality kit and installing it on the car. The designers have provided for the possibility of replacing such headlights; repairs do not require completely removing the front bumper.

Which PTF is better to install?

Manufacturers offer different sets of optics in terms of price and quality. It is worth noting the most suitable options for Kalina:

• Bosch optics have flat glass and are sold in a set of 2 devices. Has high build quality and long service life.
• Kirzhach headlights can be purchased one at a time - they use convex glass in the shape of a lens.
• Luch foglights are of good quality, but the design does not include a fogging valve.
• ProSport headlights, despite the manufacturing country of China, are of good quality at a low price.

Advice: It is worth noting that domestic manufacturers are practically not inferior in quality to foreign companies. They also offer a good warranty on their devices.

Tools and materials

Besides the optics itself? you will need to purchase a mounting kit for connection. It includes:

• relay;
• headlight switch;
• several wires with connectors;
• connectors;
• self-tapping screws;
• instructions with installation diagram.

The kit must have a special marking 1119. This means that all parts are intended for installation in the prepared location of the mounting block.

PTFs can be sold with or without external frames. Before installing the frame, you need to paint it to match the body color or purchase ready-made ones in a suitable color scheme. The tool you will need is a standard 8mm wrench and a good screwdriver. Work can be carried out both with the front bumper installed and with it removed.

What to have on hand

To carry out the work, we will arm ourselves with the following items:

1. keys 8 and 10;
2. flat and Phillips screwdrivers;
3. a 6-sided key that regulates the spread of light;
4. electrical tape, wire cutters, pliers (possibly a soldering iron);
5. ties for fastening the wiring and a piece of strong steel wire;
6. actually, headlights;
7. The most important thing you will need for repairs is a kit for connecting fog lights to Kalina.

Although the plugs included in the package are usually black, you can paint them to match the body color whenever you wish. High-quality fog lights are usually equipped with Philips bulbs that are quite good in their characteristics.
