Not all car owners know how to open the trunk using the Starline a93 key fob, even despite the obvious convenience of this option. Usually installers activate it during alarm installation, but some, alas, don’t bother. Or they forget to report it.
To check if you can open the trunk using the Starline a93 alarm key fob, do the following:
- On the main key fob, press button 2;
- A short beep will sound;
- Quickly click button 1;
- The key fob will beep three times, the car will blink its headlights three times;
- You managed to open the luggage compartment.
The function works even if the car is armed. In this case, the Starline alarm initiates a temporary shutdown of the shock sensor (so that when the luggage compartment is closed due to an impact, the siren does not blare). At the same time, the open door will blink on the key fob display.

How to enable the “Open trunk from key fob” option
Let's finally look at how to connect the option to unlock the trunk from the alarm key fob. A little effort, and as a result, to open the trunk contactlessly, you only need to press the above combination of buttons on the Starline A93 key fob.
Prepare working tools, a blowtorch, solder, electrical tape, and also buy a power relay with a diode and a platform with wires for them. The diode only allows the set charge current in one direction, so it is important (although the system will work without it, but this is more correct from a safety point of view).
- Carefully remove the trim from the driver's door sill and under the steering column;
- Disconnect the terminals from the battery;
- You need to get to the Starline central alarm unit;
- Unwind the electrical tape from the wiring harness and find the thin black and yellow (brown) tape coming from the 18-pin connector on the system unit. This is the negative output of 1 additional channel Starline a93. This is where the command to open the luggage compartment from the key fob is programmed. If you have a different alarm model, find information in the technical manual about which wires are responsible for additional channels. It is important that the signal on this channel is interval (pulse);
- Positive output – red wire from the engine autostart connector (6-pin);
- Make the connection according to the diagram;
- The triangle highlighted in the diagram is a diode; it is connected between the yellow-black and red wires (between + and -), as well as to the relay. The white mark on the diode means the positive side; accordingly, it should be turned towards the red wiring from the autostart, and the negative - towards the yellow-black wiring from the central alarm module.

If everything works, all that remains is to insulate the harnesses, hide the central block, and return the cladding to its place.

According to the user manual, the trunk is controlled from the key fob buttons as follows:
- Long press the second key on the communicator. You must wait 1-3 seconds and then briefly press the first button.
- The car lights should blink 3 times. The key fob will emit three short beeps.
- When the security function is turned off, the luggage compartment lock will open. If it is turned on, the shock sensor is also deactivated. An open trunk icon and an icon for disabling the sensitivity controller will appear on the control panel screen.
- When closing the luggage compartment of a car with the security mode turned on, the sensitivity controller is turned on. The trunk closing time is 5-6 seconds. As soon as it closes completely, the key fob will emit a beep.
Frequent problems and solutions

If everything is connected correctly, but you can’t open the trunk using the key fob:
- Check the battery in the remote control and replace if necessary. Also make sure the car battery is charged and working properly;
- Check the trunk servo. Listen for a click when you press a command on the key fob. If there is no sound, no current is supplied to the electric lock. The device needs to be opened, disassembled, cleaned contacts, connectors, and checked the functionality of internal parts (gears).
- The wires supplying the system are damaged, the connection is made incorrectly. Using a multimeter, test the wires for contact. Make sure the diode is positioned correctly;
- Perhaps the central module is to blame. As a rule, in this case the user should have noticed other “bells” (glitches in the alarm system). Remove it, disassemble it and inspect it. If the board is wet, dry its insides. Clean the contact pads and remove dust with a soft brush. Assembly is performed in reverse order;
- The limit switch on the trunk is not positioned correctly (has moved). Its position needs to be adjusted - raised higher or lowered lower.
If you have checked and ruled out everything, but the option still does not work, we recommend contacting a service center. It may be necessary to change the Starline firmware (for normal interaction with the servo drive and relay).
